Product Overview

The BWNFiber 12-fiber MPO OM1 trunk cable terminates one MPO-12 PC female connector on each end of a 3.0 mm orange jacket, built as Type B. It serves one job: like-for-like replacement and expansion of installed OM1 62.5/125 μm legacy multimode plants.

OM1 is a legacy fiber grade, and this page deliberately makes no 40G, 100G or 400G claim — it exists so maintenance teams can match the installed base exactly instead of mixing fiber grades on one channel. The official polish name is PC; UPC is a search synonym only. Overall length runs 5-100 m.

Key Features

  • One MPO-12/PC female connector on each end
  • 12 live fibers, OM1 62.5/125 μm multimode
  • Orange jacket per OM1 identification practice
  • Type B polarity fixed in the official build
  • 3.0 mm round jacket
  • 5-100 m standard length set, custom on request
  • 100% factory-terminated and optically tested before shipment

Selection Guidance

  • Order this page only to match an installed OM1 62.5/125 μm plant. For new builds, OM3/OM4 are the correct multimode grades.
  • Polarity is fixed at Type B in this build. Type A and Type C are different builds — request them on the drawing.
  • Female (unpinned) ends mate with pinned cassette and panel ports; male (pinned) builds are quoted on request.
  • Do not mix OM1 with OM3/OM4 on one channel — the core sizes differ (62.5 vs 50 μm) and the link degrades.
  • Jacket by space: OFNP for plenum, OFNR for riser shafts, LSZH for enclosed or public areas.

Applications

  • Like-for-like replacement in installed OM1 62.5/125 μm plants
  • Legacy multimode backbone maintenance and sparing
  • Brownfield expansions that must match the existing fiber grade
  • Legacy panel and cassette interconnect

Order Guide

Polarity is already fixed as Type B in this build — choose overall length and jacket. If the site plan calls for Type A or Type C, request that build on the drawing.

Why Source from BWNFiber

BWNFiber factory-terminates and inspects every MPO end before shipment, records polarity per order, and can attach IL/RL test reports for project handover. Catalog jackets cover LSZH, OFNP and OFNR; PVC, TPU and PE are quoted on project orders, together with OEM printing and labeling. Legacy-grade assemblies get the same factory termination and test discipline as current grades, so maintenance teams can document like-for-like replacements cleanly. Send the interface, fiber type, jacket and overall length, and BWNFiber returns a build sheet before production.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Should I buy OM1 for a new installation?

No. OM1 is a legacy grade for matching installed 62.5/125 μm plants. New multimode builds should use OM3, OM4 or OM5.

Is the polish UPC or PC?

The official polish name on this page is PC. UPC appears only as a search synonym — the supplied product is PC.

Can I mix this OM1 trunk with OM4 links?

No. OM1 is 62.5/125 μm and OM4 is 50/125 μm. Different core sizes on one channel cause high loss and unreliable links.

Can I order Type A or Type C?

This official build is Type B. Type A and Type C are different builds — state the method on the drawing and BWNFiber will quote them.

What lengths are listed?

5 m to 100 m in the standard set, plus custom lengths quoted on the drawing.
