100G QSFP28-to-QSFP28 AOC Specifications
This assembly integrates a QSFP28 connector at each end with multimode fiber between them. It is intended for a direct port-to-port link, with no separate transceivers or field-connected optical patch leads required.
| Parameter | Specification / ordering condition |
|---|---|
| End A / End B | QSFP28 / QSFP28 |
| Link rate | 100G; four channels supporting up to 25.78125 Gb/s per lane |
| Fiber and reach | OM3: up to 100 m; OM4: up to 150 m |
| Standard lengths | 1, 3, 5, 10, 15, 20, 30, 50, 70 and 100 m |
| Custom lengths | OM4, up to 150 m; confirm the exact order configuration |
| Operating case temperature | 0°C to +70°C, commercial grade |
| Recommended supply voltage | 3.14–3.47 V; 3.3 V typical |
| Power dissipation | Datasheet maximum: 2.5 W. Confirm whether this limit applies per cable end or to the complete assembly before budgeting host power. |
| Management interface reference | SFF-8636; verify the requested host coding and supported management functions |
SFF-8636 defines the management interface for four-lane modules and cables. It should not be described as the complete QSFP28 electrical specification or treated as proof of compatibility with a particular switch or NIC.
Select the Length and Fiber Grade
Measure the installed route between the two ports, including vertical routing and the planned service loop. The 150 m option is an OM4 configuration; do not specify it as an OM3 assembly. Confirm the permitted bend radius, pulling precautions and connector clearance for the ordered cable before installation.
An AOC is a complete assembly. Choose separate optical transceivers and fiber cabling if the route must pass through optical patch panels or if separately replaceable optics are required.
Ordering Information
Use the following part numbers as the starting point for an RFQ. Specify OM3 or OM4, coding for each endpoint and quantity; the part number alone does not establish host compatibility or current stock availability.

| BWN-AOC-QSFP28-100G-01M | 100G QSFP28 Active Optical Cable | 1 m | OM3 / OM4 |
| BWN-AOC-QSFP28-100G-03M | 100G QSFP28 Active Optical Cable | 3 m | OM3 / OM4 |
| BWN-AOC-QSFP28-100G-05M | 100G QSFP28 Active Optical Cable | 5 m | OM3 / OM4 |

| BWN-AOC-QSFP28-100G-100M | 100G QSFP28 Active Optical Cable | 100 m | OM3 / OM4 |
| BWN-AOC-QSFP28-100G-xxM | 100G QSFP28 Active Optical Cable | Custom (up to 150 m) | OM4 |
Example RFQ: BWN-AOC-QSFP28-100G-10M, OM4, 10 m, quantity 20; include the switch or NIC model, firmware and 100G port settings at each end. Confirm the final coding and acceptance requirements before approving the BOM.
Compatibility Checks Before a Bulk Order
- Identify both hosts. Provide model numbers, firmware versions and port identifiers. Record different coding requirements separately for ends A and B.
- Confirm the link mode. Both ports must support the intended 100G connection. Check the host requirements for port configuration, auto-negotiation and FEC rather than assuming one setting applies to every platform.
- Check physical and environmental fit. Confirm routed length, fiber grade, cable-management space and commercial operating case temperature.
- Validate a sample. Test the requested cable configuration on the actual host pair before approving a bulk order.
Choose the Right 100G Connection
| Connection requirement | Product choice |
|---|---|
| One QSFP28 port to another QSFP28 port over an integrated optical assembly | This 100G QSFP28 AOC |
| One QSFP28 port to four SFP28 endpoints | 100G QSFP28 to 4×SFP28 breakout AOC; confirm breakout support on the host |
| A short copper connection where the host and route support passive DAC | 100G QSFP28 passive DAC cable |
| An optical channel using patch panels or separately replaceable optics | Review 100G QSFP28 optical transceivers with the required fiber channel |

Receiving and Link Acceptance
Check the delivered part number, length, fiber grade and endpoint labels against the approved order. Inspect the cable jacket and latches, then connect the intended host pair and confirm link state at the required rate.
Run the agreed traffic or BER procedure and record the hosts, firmware, settings, test duration and pass criteria. Ask for the applicable factory test report; a generic datasheet is not a substitute for the project’s acceptance record.
Request a 100G QSFP28 AOC Quote or Sample
Send both host models, firmware, port settings, cable length, OM3 or OM4, quantity and any label or packaging requirements. Include the intended installation environment and required acceptance documents so the configuration can be reviewed before quotation.
