MPO Trunk Cable

MPO 12 Fiber OM5 Trunk Cable

The BWNFiber 12-fiber MPO OM5 trunk cable terminates one MPO-12 PC female connector on each end of a lime-green jacket. It is the Base-12 wideband multimode trunk for panel and cassette interconnect in plants that specify OM5 infrastructure.

Product Overview

The BWNFiber 12-fiber MPO OM5 trunk cable terminates one MPO-12 PC female connector on each end of a lime-green jacket. It is the Base-12 wideband multimode trunk for panel and cassette interconnect in plants that specify OM5 infrastructure.

OM5 wideband fiber keeps the plant ready for SWDM-based optics, but the jacket color alone is not a speed claim — the installed transceivers decide the application. This page is a trunk for backbone runs of 5-100 m; short in-cabinet jumpers belong to the patch cord family. Type A, Type B or Type C polarity is built to the site drawing.

Key Features

  • One MPO-12/PC female connector on each end

Selection Guidance

  • Polarity is not field-switchable. Choose Type A, Type B or Type C from the site drawing before ordering.
  • Female (unpinned) ends mate with pinned cassette and panel ports; male (pinned) builds are quoted on request.
  • Choose OM5 when the design specifies wideband multimode; for standard OM4 plants, see the 12F OM4 trunk instead.
  • OM5 supports SWDM ecosystems, but SWDM operation depends on the optics, not the jacket color.
  • This is a 5-100 m trunk. For short in-cabinet OM3/OM4 jumpers, use the patch cord family.
  • Jacket by space: OFNP for plenum, OFNR for riser shafts, LSZH for enclosed or public areas.

Applications

  • Wideband multimode panel and cassette interconnect
  • Base-12 OM5 structured cabling trunks
  • SWDM-ready multimode backbones (optics-dependent)
  • High-density 12-fiber permanent links inside the hall

Order Guide

This SKU is built to the ordered polarity and is not polarity-switchable in the field. Select the polarity from the site drawing, then overall length and jacket.

Why Source from BWNFiber

BWNFiber factory-terminates and inspects every MPO end before shipment, records polarity per order, and can attach IL/RL test reports for project handover. Catalog jackets cover LSZH, OFNP and OFNR; PVC, TPU and PE are quoted on project orders, together with OEM printing and labeling. OM5 builds carry their own naming and test records, separate from OM4 violet stock, so wideband projects receive the specified fiber grade. Send the interface, fiber type, polarity, jacket and overall length, and BWNFiber returns a build sheet before production.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the lime green jacket mean this cable runs SWDM?

Not by itself. OM5 fiber supports SWDM ecosystems, but SWDM operation depends on the transceivers at each end of the link.

Should I buy the OM5 or the OM4 12-fiber trunk?

Follow the design specification. OM5 is specified for wideband multimode plants; OM4 violet covers standard multimode builds. Mixing grades on one channel is not recommended.

Is this an SR4 or SR8 cable?

This page makes no speed claim. It is a 12-fiber OM5 trunk; the application is set by the installed optics.

Which polarity should I order?

Polarity follows your channel plan. Type A, Type B and Type C are all built to order; confirm the cassette or panel method on the site drawing.

Can I order it shorter than 5 m for in-cabinet use?

This page is the 5-100 m trunk. For short in-cabinet jumpers, use the MPO patch cord family, which starts at 0.5 m.
