12F, 16F and 24F MMC-MMC Fiber Jumper

An MMC-MMC fiber jumper is a factory-terminated VSFF patch cord for short links between compatible panels, switches, optical interfaces and test equipment. BWNFiber offers documented OS2 and OM4 versions in 12F, 16F and 24F configurations, with project options for gender, polarity, polish, jacket and labeling.

The project portfolio also lists OM3 and OM5 options. Confirm the applicable specification, cable diameter and jacket for those builds before ordering.

Jumper vs. Trunk Cable

Choose an MMC jumper for short rack, adjacent-rack, cross-connect or laboratory links. Choose a pre-terminated trunk when the route spans distribution areas or requires multiple MMC connectors, longer installation lengths or a pulling eye.

Configuration Checklist

  • Match the fiber count to the exact transceiver or panel interface.
  • Confirm male/female gender at both ends.
  • Define Type A, Type B, Type C or a custom channel map.
  • Select UPC or APC according to the mating interface.
  • Specify fiber type, length, jacket and labeling.
  • Request an IL/RL report when project acceptance documentation is required.

Polarity labels alone may not capture every transceiver mapping. For nonstandard links, provide a channel map or equipment datasheet with the inquiry.

Typical Applications

  • Switch-to-panel and panel-to-panel cross-connects
  • High-density patching within a rack or between adjacent racks
  • AI/GPU cluster optical links using a compatible parallel-optics interface
  • 400G/800G module staging and test environments

Ethernet speed does not by itself determine the connector or fiber count. Confirm the optical module interface and reach before choosing OS2 or multimode fiber.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

What does MMC stand for?

MMC stands for Multi-fiber Miniature Connector.

Are jumper and patch cord the same product?

In this product family, both terms describe a short factory-terminated MMC-MMC cable assembly.

What is the standard length range?

The current portfolio lists 0.5 m to 30 m, with custom lengths available after configuration review.

Can the two ends use different genders?

Gender depends on the two mating interfaces. Provide both port types so a compatible end configuration can be confirmed.

Do you provide test reports?

Yes. IL/RL reports can be requested per cable or project lot, subject to the agreed acceptance specification.
