Connect one specified MPO interface to eight individually routed LC/UPC simplex ends. This MPO 8F OS2 to LC simplex Type A cable is specified with an MPO/APC female end and a 3.0 mm yellow trunk for installations that need separate LC port assignments.
Product Overview
The supplied configuration describes eight OS2 single-mode fibers terminating in eight LC/UPC simplex connectors. Choose this branch arrangement when each LC end needs its own port position, label and routing length. The eight fibers are not an optical power splitter, and the assembly does not convert a transmission protocol or data rate.
The Type A designation describes the requested assembly mapping. It does not, by itself, confirm a complete Method A channel or compatibility with a particular transceiver. Before ordering, reconcile the MPO occupied positions, connector key reference and eight LC destinations on the assembly drawing.
Specification status: This is a drawing-review configuration. The supplied product values and available options need BWNFiber confirmation (confirmation with BWNFiber) before a quotation or production release.
Key Features
- One MPO/APC female end to eight individually accessible LC/UPC simplex ends.
- Eight active OS2 single-mode fibers in the supplied configuration.
- Yellow trunk specified at 3.0 mm diameter; this dimension does not define the branch diameter.
- Fixed Type A request on this product; a different map requires a separately approved specification.
- Individual branch identification to match the buyer’s LC port schedule; label format to be agreed.
Applications
| Intended installation | Why this configuration may fit | Check before selection |
|---|---|---|
| OS2 distribution panel with individual LC positions | Separate simplex ends can follow the panel’s port schedule | LC polish, occupied MPO positions and destination labels |
| Harness replacement within a documented single-mode route | The eight destinations can be compared with the existing assembly drawing | Mapping and length datums; do not match by jacket color alone |
| Project-specific rack cabling with separately routed LC ends | Branch lengths can be specified for individual port locations | Branch dimensions, bend-radius requirements and handling space |
For general family selection, see MPO breakout and harness cables. For channel planning, use the MPO polarity checklist. The equipment interface specification remains the controlling source for compatibility.

Interface and mapping review
Do not infer the populated ferrule positions from “8 fibers” alone. Request a connector-end view with the viewing direction and key position marked. Match each populated position to one LC branch label and destination port. Female denotes the specified unpinned MPO side; verify the actual mating interface before assembly selection.
APC is specified at the MPO end and UPC at the LC ends. Verify polish at each mating connection; the two end descriptions do not authorize mating APC and UPC connectors together. OS2 describes the fiber category and does not establish an application-specific reach or supported Ethernet speed.
Compare the branch arrangement
| Requirement | This eight-simplex configuration | Alternative to review |
|---|---|---|
| Eight separately assigned LC positions | Fits the stated branch arrangement | No duplex grouping needs to be assumed |
| Four mechanically paired LC connections | Requires a different connector arrangement | An approved LC duplex harness |
| A specified lower insertion-loss limit | No low-loss grade established here | Request a measured loss grade and its test limits |
| A specified bend-insensitive fiber or black jacket | Not established by this yellow OS2 specification | Request the exact fiber and jacket construction |
Order Guide
Define the eight destinations
Send a port schedule with one row per LC end. Include the branch label, destination panel and port, required reach from the breakout point and any label orientation constraint. BWNFiber must confirm the corresponding MPO position; do not prefill it from a generic Type A sketch.
Select length and jacket
The source lists these metric lengths. Feet are approximate conversions, not additional stock sizes: 1 m (3.28 ft), 1.5 m (4.92 ft), 2 m (6.56 ft), 3 m (9.84 ft), 5 m (16.40 ft), 7 m (22.97 ft), 10 m (32.81 ft), 15 m (49.21 ft), 20 m (65.62 ft), 25 m (82.02 ft), 30 m (98.43 ft), 40 m (131.23 ft) and 50 m (164.04 ft).
State whether the total length is measured between connector reference points and how the fanout length is measured. LSZH, OFNP and OFNR are source-listed requests, not interchangeable approvals. Specify the installation requirement and request documentation for the quoted cable construction.
Customization requests
Custom length, staggered branches, 0.9 mm legs, pulling eyes and OEM labeling appear in the supplied material. Availability and dimensions require BWNFiber confirmation (confirmation with BWNFiber). Keep the baseline Type A map and 3.0 mm trunk explicit when asking about changes; a requested feature is not an approved catalog option.
Quality Control and Ordering Support
For this assembly, ask BWNFiber for a revision-controlled drawing, the approved material specification, an eight-path continuity record and the agreed optical acceptance criteria. Specify whether insertion-loss and return-loss values apply to each connection or to an end-to-end assembly, along with the wavelength and reference method.
Request a sample report showing how the assembly ID, branch labels and test results are linked. Set end-face inspection and packaging requirements in the purchase specification. Actual inspection coverage, report availability and acceptance limits require BWNFiber confirmation (confirmation with BWNFiber); no blanket test or certification claim is made here.
For a quotation, send the mating interface reference, eight-port destination schedule, overall and fanout lengths, jacket requirement, quantity, destination country and required delivery date. Ask for the approved specification and quote-specific MOQ and lead time. Do not infer availability from the source length list.
Compare enclosed distribution using breakout cable versus cassette selection if individual external branches do not fit the installation. Broader architecture choices belong in the MPO cable types guide.
