Product Overview
Specification disclaimer: This configuration is subject to an approved product datasheet, drawing and order specification. Availability, compliance evidence, test limits and commercial terms are confirmation with BWNFiber.
This MPO 12 fiber OM4 to LC duplex breakout cable connects one MPO-12/PC female interface to six LC/UPC duplex terminations. It is intended for a twelve-fiber multimode distribution path where every fiber must be presented at an LC endpoint. Confirm the endpoint drawing and fiber assignment before ordering; connector count alone does not establish application compatibility.
The supplied configuration specifies OM4 50/125 μm fiber and a violet jacket. Use the approved fiber specification to confirm the grade. Jacket color identifies the assembly but does not prove its optical performance or suitability for a particular transceiver.
Key Features
- One MPO-12 interface and six LC duplex terminations for a twelve-fiber path.
- Female, unpinned MPO end, with PC finish as specified in the supplied configuration.
- LC/UPC duplex branch ends for separately identified pairs.
- OM4 multimode configuration for a matching multimode cabling plant.
- Order definition by fiber map, overall length, branch layout and installation requirements.
Technical Specifications

Confirm the connector interface
State the gender and finish at both ends in the purchase specification. An unpinned MPO end requires a correctly matched pinned mating interface. Do not change PC to APC, or replace a generic MPO connector with a branded connector description, without an approved component specification. Confirm key orientation with the port or adapter drawing.
Approve the fiber map
A polarity letter is an ordering aid, not a complete channel drawing. Ask for the MPO position assigned to each LC connector, the two fibers in every duplex pair, the LC A/B orientation and the label at each branch. Check the complete path, including any cassette, adapter and patch cord. Do not infer a pin assignment from the phrase “six duplex.”
Application Fit
| Intended task | Fit decision | Information required |
|---|---|---|
| Present twelve OM4 fibers on an LC patching field | Candidate configuration | MPO interface, all twelve fiber positions and LC pair assignments |
| Connect to a cassette’s exposed MPO interface | Conditional | Cassette part number, interface drawing and internal mapping |
| Organize six duplex circuits in a distribution area | Conditional | End-to-end pair continuity, routing and branch identification |
| Connect a four-lane SR4 breakout | Do not select by this description alone | Exact module SKU, populated fiber positions, supported breakout mode and a matching assembly |
| Connect an OS2 singlemode path | Different fiber configuration required | Singlemode product specification and connector requirements |
A twelve-fiber harness is not an optical splitter. It routes individual fibers; it does not divide optical power or convert a data rate. Do not assume a cassette has a usable MPO connection on the side shown in a rack drawing. Identify the actual accessible interface before selecting the harness.
For alternatives, start with the MPO breakout and harness range. For a multi-fiber connection without LC fanout, review the MPO patch cord category.
Order Guide
Define one approved configuration
- Provide the two endpoint part numbers or clear interface drawings.
- Confirm twelve required fiber paths and six duplex pair assignments.
- Attach the requested MPO-to-LC map, key orientation and branch labels.
- Specify overall length and fanout geometry from agreed drawing reference points.
- State the installation’s jacket requirement and documentation needed for acceptance.
- Send quantity, destination, requested delivery date and any label or packaging requirements.
- Approve the supplier’s drawing revision and optical acceptance specification before production.
Length schedule
Use metres as the order unit. Feet below are approximate references, rounded to two decimal places; they are not alternative manufacturing tolerances. Listed lengths are source options, with availability confirmation with BWNFiber.
| Metres | Approximate feet | Metres | Approximate feet |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | 3.28 | 10 | 32.81 |
| 1.5 | 4.92 | 15 | 49.21 |
| 2 | 6.56 | 20 | 65.62 |
| 3 | 9.84 | 25 | 82.02 |
| 5 | 16.40 | 30 | 98.43 |
| 7 | 22.97 | 40 | 131.23 |
| 50 | 164.04 | — | — |
Define the end-to-end measurement on the drawing. Separately identify the fanout transition, each branch length and any staggering needed to reach the port row. Leave routing slack according to the equipment layout and the approved cable handling specification; do not use an assumed bend-radius value.
Jacket and customization requests
Provide the installation requirement rather than choosing by color or a general low-smoke description. LSZH, OFNP and OFNR are not interchangeable labels. Ask which documented cable construction meets the project’s required classification. For markets outside the United States, submit the local installation and documentation requirements with the RFQ.
The source lists custom lengths, labels and packaging. These are requests for feasibility review: confirmation with BWNFiber. Do not treat every polarity × length × jacket combination as a stocked SKU. Field polarity adjustment is not established for this configuration; approve the required map at ordering.
Quality and Acceptance Review
Ask for a product-specific test specification before accepting a quotation. It should define the measured paths, relevant wavelengths, insertion-loss limits, any required return-loss limits, reference arrangement and report identification. Standards named in source material do not demonstrate that this build has passed a test.
For the sample review, agree on:
- Continuity and position-to-position mapping for all twelve fibers.
- Duplex pair and branch-label agreement with the approved drawing.
- Connector end-face inspection criteria and the cleaning procedure.
- Measured optical results tied to an identifiable assembly or batch.
- Length, branch layout and cable construction against the accepted BOM.
- Cable classification evidence and any declarations required for the destination.
BWNFiber’s available reports, test limits, certifications, sample process, MOQ and lead time are confirmation with BWNFiber. Request documents for this configuration rather than relying on a general company claim. No transmission distance or data-rate guarantee is made by this cable description.
Request a Configuration Quote
Send BWNFiber the endpoint drawing, twelve-fiber map, length, branch layout, jacket requirement, quantity and destination. Include required acceptance records and the delivery date you need. Ask for a quoted configuration, drawing revision and confirmed scope of supply.
Submit the configuration for review. For channel planning questions, consult the MPO polarity and channel design resource and validate the final map against the actual equipment.
