Buyer-oriented summary

This working record describes a 24-fiber GYTS loose-tube cable proposed for duct routes. The supplied table lists six fibers per tube, four tubes plus one filler, a black PE sheath, an 8.5 mm cable diameter and a 69 kg/km cable weight. These values are not released specifications: BWNFiber must first reconcile this record with the separate 24F GYTS construction and issue the applicable controlled datasheet or drawing.

Selection and RFQ steps

  1. Reference the confirmed GYTS part/configuration ID and controlled revision.
  2. State the route as duct and provide duct size, occupancy, length, bends, pulling method and environmental conditions where relevant.
  3. Confirm the fiber grade, fiber count, tube/filler map, central member, armor and sheath construction.
  4. Confirm finished-cable diameter, mass, tensile/crush criteria and installation/installed bend limits with their test basis.
  5. Specify total length, length per drum, quantity, sheath marking, label language, packaging, destination and target schedule.
  6. List required documents: approved datasheet, construction drawing, applicable inspection/test evidence, packing data and approved deviations.

FAQ

Merge-ready FAQs

Is this P178 record the same as BWNFiber’s other 24F GYTS configuration?

That has not been established. The two working records list different dimensions and performance values. BWNFiber Product/Engineering must map both records to part numbers, BOMs and controlled revisions before either set of values is used for quotation or publication.

Can the 8.5 mm and 8.6 mm GYTS specifications be combined?

No. A small diameter difference may represent a tolerance, revision, extraction issue or genuinely different construction. Do not combine values until the controlled drawings and product identities show how the records relate.

Is corrugated steel tape the central strength member?

The supplied P178 table is ambiguous. The diagram labels steel wire and steel tape separately, so the approved BOM or drawing must identify the central strength member and armor as separate components.

What crush resistance applies?

TBC. The V4 row lists 1000/3000 N/100 mm for short-/long-term conditions, but the mapping requires Quality review. Do not quote either value until the source row and test basis are confirmed.

Is the cable approved for aerial installation?

Not from the supplied evidence. The page title and introduction focus on duct use, while one table mentions duct/aerial. Aerial use requires an approved support method and applicable mechanical/environmental design; self-supporting use must never be inferred.

What fiber grade does this record use?

TBC — source required. The optical values alone do not authorize labeling this record G.652.D or another specific grade.

Are the attenuation figures a complete link-loss budget?

No. Working cable/fiber attenuation values do not include installed length variance, splices, connectors, bends, workmanship or design margin. Link acceptance requires a separate project method and budget.

What should be sent for a quotation?

Send the confirmed configuration ID, route, environmental and mechanical requirements, total and drum lengths, quantity, marking, packaging, destination, schedule and required approval documents.
