Indoor Fiber Cable Indoor Fiber Optic Cable

Product scope

This record is intended to describe bulk 24-fiber multimode indoor cable used to manufacture an MPO cable assembly. It is not, by itself, a finished MPO-to-MPO patch cord. Connector brand, ferrule format, gender, pinning, polarity, key orientation, polish, finished length and assembly-level insertion-loss or return-loss requirements are separate order fields.

The supplied record names a 3.5 ± 0.1 mm cable diameter, an aramid-yarn strength member and two proposed jacket selections. These values remain subject to BWNFiber Engineering review because the controlled datasheet, drawing and model/SKU were not supplied with this task.

Blocked fiber-grade rows

The supplied V4 table includes an OM3-150 row with orange color, 950 MHz·km EMB and 150 m 10G reach. Those values conflict with the normal OM3 identification used by current manufacturer specifications, which show 2,000 MHz·km minimum EMB and 300 m 10 Gigabit Ethernet reach at 850 nm. do not use for order release either the OM3-150 name or its associated values until Engineering identifies the actual fiber grade and source row.

The proposed optical figures below are therefore retained only as review inputs, not as approved product claims:

Proposed fieldSupplied V4 valueRequired action
Cabled attenuation≤3.5 dB/km at 850 nm; ≤1.5 dB/km at 1300 nmConfirm test basis, source and applicable fiber grade

How to select the correct order configuration

  1. Confirm that the requirement is bulk cable stock for assembly production, not a connectorized trunk or patch cord.
  2. Specify 24 fibers and the controlled multimode grade from the approved fiber datasheet.
  3. Select the jacket material and state the exact building-code or fire-test evidence required by the destination project. Do not approve the cable from LSZH or OFNR wording alone.
  4. Confirm the finished cable diameter, tolerance and construction drawing against the connector boot, crimp, entry port and routing space.
  5. State the total cable length, length per roll, quantity, marking text, destination and required packaging.
  6. If BWNFiber will terminate the cable, provide the complete MPO build sheet separately: connector/ferrule, gender, pinning, polarity, key orientation, polish, finished length and assembly acceptance limits.

Application boundary

Use this product record only for the selected indoor bulk-cable construction and its approved assembly process. It does not establish:

  • a finished MPO patch-cord configuration;
  • compatibility with a specific transceiver, panel or connector brand;
  • an OFNR, LSZH/FRNC, CPR, UL or other fire classification;
  • installation, storage, tensile, crush or bend limits;
  • connector insertion loss, return loss or a complete channel budget.

Each item above requires its own controlled source or project review.

For broad pathway and jacket selection, use the indoor fiber cable selection page. For connectorized products, compare the MPO/MTP breakout and fan-out cable range, the wider MPO connectivity category and the fiber patch cord category. These pages own the broader category or finished-assembly intent; P191 should remain the exact bulk-cable record.

Testing and quality-control requirements

TBC — source required. Before commercial approval, provide the controlled cable datasheet and drawing, fiber certificate or declaration, attenuation test method, dimensional inspection method, reel-length tolerance, jacket/rating evidence and acceptance criteria. If the cable is supplied as a finished MPO assembly, add the assembly test plan and traceable fiber-map, polarity, insertion-loss and return-loss records required by the approved build sheet.

Packaging and procurement information

The supplied draft proposes 1 km / roll. Confirm reel or roll type, maximum continuous length, length tolerance, label format, protective packing and shipping dimensions before publishing or quoting this value.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Is this a finished MPO patch cord?

No. The current record describes bulk cable intended for MPO assembly production. A finished assembly needs a separate build sheet covering both ends, pinning, polarity, key orientation, polish, length and test limits.

Does 24F determine the MPO connector configuration?

No. Fiber count alone does not determine ferrule format, gender, pinning, polarity or key orientation. Confirm the complete interface map before termination.

Is the cable OM3?

That is the intended product position, but the supplied fiber-grade table contains a conflicting OM3-150 row. BWNFiber Engineering must identify the correct grade and controlled specification before release.

Does LSZH mean the cable is OFNR rated?

Not automatically. LSZH describes material or smoke/halogen behavior; OFNR is a North American riser designation that needs evidence for the exact cable construction. Select and document the required property separately.

What cable diameter is proposed?

The supplied record states 3.5 ± 0.1 mm. Confirm the controlled drawing and measurement method before using it for connector hardware or routing approval.

What attenuation values are proposed?

The draft lists ≤3.5 dB/km at 850 nm and ≤1.5 dB/km at 1300 nm. These remain review values until their source, method and applicable fiber grade are confirmed. They are not connector loss or a complete channel-loss allowance.

What should be included in the quotation request?

Send the product role, fiber count and grade, jacket and required rating evidence, diameter/drawing revision, total length, roll/reel length, quantity, marking, destination and approval-document list. Add the complete connector build sheet if a finished assembly is required.
