FBT Splitter

1×2 OM4 FBT Splitter, 50/50, LC/UPC, 0.9 mm

This proposed product record covers one configuration only: a 1×2 fused biconical taper (FBT) coupler labeled OM4 multimode and tested at 850 nm, with a nominal 50/50 split, LC/UPC terminations and a 0.9 mm field in the pictured part number. Use this record to confirm the model, optical acceptance limits, port map and order documents; do not apply it to singlemode or generic PON designs.

Sample optical record — not a production guarantee

The photographed record for code FBT-MM-OM4-850-5050 shows the following results at 850 nm. These values describe the pictured sample only. They must not be presented as guaranteed model limits until Quality confirms the report-to-SKU mapping, method, reference planes, launch condition and approved acceptance specification.

Technical disclaimer: Figures shown from the photographed sample record are for reference only, not a guarantee. Use the released model specification and approved test method for design and acceptance.

PathNominal ratioSample actual ratioSample insertion loss
Port 150%49.53%3.15 dB
Port 250%50.47%3.07 dB

The same record shows excess loss of 0.10 dB and return-loss/directivity fields of at least 35 dB. Test uncertainty, source type, launch conditioning and connector reference planes are TBC — source required.

Where this build may fit

Consider this product only for an approved 850 nm OM4 multimode design that requires one input to feed two nominally equal optical paths. Engineering should validate the source launch, modal behavior, receiver power range, connector interfaces and end-to-end loss budget before approval.

Do not use this page as evidence that the part is suitable for a singlemode 1310/1490/1550 nm PON, CATV overlay or another architecture. Select a mode- and wavelength-matched product instead.

What must be confirmed before approval

  1. Match the proposed BWNFiber SKU to the report code and supplier part number.
  2. Confirm the physical input and output labels; a 50/50 target does not remove the need for a controlled port map.
  3. Approve model-wide maximum/minimum optical limits separately from the sample measurements.
  4. Define the test wavelength range, source/launch condition, reference planes, connector state and uncertainty.
  5. Approve lead construction, input/output lengths, housing material and dimensions from a drawing.
  6. Confirm labeling, packaging, document revision and lot/serial traceability requirements.
  7. Validate the assembly in the project link budget before sample or production release.

Required documents

  • Current model datasheet with revision/date
  • Configuration drawing and physical port map
  • Approved production acceptance limits
  • Test method and sample/lot report format
  • Connector/end-face inspection criteria
  • Label and packaging specification
  • Applicable compliance documents, if any

No download should appear until the document owner approves the exact model and public version.

  • proposed model or reference part;
  • 1×2, OM4, 850 nm and 50/50 requirement;
  • input/output connector and polish;
  • input/output lead protection and lengths;

Primary CTA

Request a model-matched datasheet and quotation

Send the reference model, required optical limits, lead lengths, quantity and target schedule. BWNFiber should return the controlled configuration, available documents and quotation conditions after product/engineering review.

Secondary CTA

Ask for a sample-record and port-map review

Use this only after the public document and response owner are confirmed.

FAQ

1×2 OM4 FBT Splitter, 50/50, LC/UPC, 0.9 mm FAQ

Is this a singlemode PON splitter?

No. The supplied sample record identifies an OM4 multimode build tested at 850 nm. Do not substitute it for a singlemode PON splitter without an approved system design.

Are 3.15 dB and 3.07 dB guaranteed insertion-loss limits?

No. They are values shown on one pictured sample record. Guaranteed limits require a released model specification and approved test method.

Do the reported insertion-loss values include the LC/UPC connectors?

The pictured assembly is LC/UPC terminated, but the report does not define its reference planes. Confirm the test method before using the values in a link budget.

Does 0.9 mm mean a steel-tube package?

No. The 0.9 field describes the lead field in the supplied naming/part data. Housing material and dimensions require a drawing; they should not be inferred from 0.9 mm.

Is 0.12 m the standard lead length?

The pictured part number contains 0.12M, but a standard or orderable lead length has not been approved. State the required input/output lengths in the RFQ.

What should be approved before a sample or batch order?

Approve the model mapping, drawing, physical port map, production limits, test method, lead lengths, labeling, documentation and project link budget.
