Optical-Isolator-SM-0.9mm-LCUPC
1550 nm Single-Stage In-Line Optical Isolator with LC/UPC
This proposed BWNFiber configuration is a two-port, single-stage in-line optical isolator for a 1550 nm singlemode fiber path. The photographed assembly uses 900 um SMF-28e pigtails and LC/UPC connectors. An isolator is direction-sensitive: it passes the intended forward optical path while suppressing reverse light. It does not divide optical power and is not an FBT splitter.

The supplied evidence includes a product photograph and a test sheet dated December 24, 2020 for serial 20090611. Those measurements describe that sample; they are not a current production guarantee. Request the current model-matched datasheet, drawing and acceptance limits before approving a new order.
Technical disclaimer: all sample measurements and configuration notes on this draft are for identification and review only, not a guarantee of current production performance. Final approval depends on the exact released model, current datasheet, agreed test conditions, connector/reference planes and order-specific acceptance criteria.
Primary CTA: Send the required wavelength, optical power, minimum isolation, maximum insertion loss, pigtail/connector configuration, quantity and required documents for a model review.

Do not convert these sample values into guaranteed limits. A released product table must show the current specification limit, unit, temperature/wavelength condition, reference plane, connector inclusion, test method and document revision separately from any individual result.
What this component does — and what it does not do
An optical isolator is used where reverse light or back-reflection must be suppressed along a defined optical path. Its direction and operating conditions are part of the specification. The system engineer must confirm that the required wavelength, power, isolation, insertion-loss budget, connector interface and environment match the approved component.
This product is not a splitter or coupler. An FBT splitter distributes optical power between multiple paths according to a coupling ratio. This isolator has one input path and one output path; “split ratio” is not an ordering field.
If the design needs optical power division, use the FBT splitter selection page or the broader fiber optic splitter catalog. If the requirement is controlled optical loss rather than reverse-light suppression, compare a fiber optic attenuator. For a broader BOM review, browse fiber optic components.
Confirm fit before selection
- Wavelength and bandwidth: state the operating wavelength and required range, not only “1550 nm.”
- Stage and isolation: state whether a single-stage design is acceptable and define the minimum isolation at the required temperature and wavelength.
- Insertion-loss budget: define the maximum allowed loss and whether connector loss is included in the acceptance reference plane.
- Optical power: state continuous and peak conditions and confirm the approved connector/end-face limit.
- Direction: require visible input/output identification and confirm installation orientation.
- Fiber and pigtail: approve fiber type, pigtail protection, length, minimum bend control and handling method.
- Connector: approve LC/UPC on both ports, mating-adapter condition, end-face inspection and cleanliness procedure.
- Mechanical fit: check the released body drawing, boots, fiber exits, routing clearance and host enclosure.
- Environment: define operating/storage temperature and any shock, vibration or other qualification requirement.
- Evidence: request the current datasheet, drawing, test method, model-matched record and document revision.
Application screening
In-line isolators are commonly evaluated in amplifier, transmitter, laser, CATV and optical-test paths where reverse light control matters. These are application categories, not automatic approvals for this model. The system owner must check source type, wavelength, power, allowable loss, required isolation, connector condition, direction and environmental limits before use.
Do not select this configuration when
- the required function is to divide or tap optical power;
- the system requires an unverified wavelength, dual-stage isolation, polarization-maintaining fiber or a different connector;
- the required optical power or environmental condition exceeds the current approved specification;
- the design cannot maintain the required installation direction or connector cleanliness;
- no current model-matched datasheet and acceptance record are available.
Required RFQ information
Send the following fields so the product team can determine whether this working configuration or another approved model fits the requirement:
- operating wavelength and required bandwidth;
- single- or dual-stage requirement;
- minimum isolation and maximum insertion loss, including test conditions;
- continuous/peak optical power and source type;
- fiber type, pigtail protection and length;
- connector type/polish on each port;
- required input/output direction marking;
- package and host-space constraints;
- operating and storage environment;
- quantity and target schedule;
- required datasheet, drawing, test report and compliance evidence.
Secondary CTA: Request the current model-matched datasheet and drawing before finalizing the BOM.
1550 nm Single-Stage In-Line Optical Isolator with LC/UPC FAQ
Is this an FBT splitter?
No. An FBT splitter divides or couples optical power among paths. This proposed product is a two-port optical isolator intended to suppress reverse light in a defined direction. Coupling ratio is therefore not an order field.
Are 43.90 dB isolation and 0.42 dB insertion loss guaranteed production limits?
No. They are values recorded on the supplied test sheet for one photographed sample dated December 24, 2020. Use the current released datasheet and order-specific acceptance criteria to define production limits.
Does the test record include the LC/UPC connectors?
The photographed record identifies LC/UPC connectors, but the measurement reference planes and connector-loss treatment are not stated clearly enough for release. Confirm them in the current test method or controlled datasheet.
Is the device bidirectional?
An isolator is direction-sensitive. The approved drawing and shipped label must identify the intended input and output. Do not install it from connector symmetry alone.
What should be confirmed for 500 mW operation?
Confirm that 500 mW is a current released limit for the exact wavelength, connector, end-face condition, temperature and operating mode. The photographed historical record alone is not sufficient for a new design approval.
What documents should accompany a quotation?
Request the current model datasheet, mechanical drawing, order code or approved BOM, test conditions, model-matched acceptance record, and any required compliance evidence. Commercial terms should be confirmed separately.
