Quick answer: A defensible MPO cable price is a dated, configuration-specific record, not a global average. Keep the seller, market, currency, product identity, configuration, selling unit, and observation date with the number. Use it for early budgeting, then replace it with a current quotation after the technical specification is released.
Procurement summary: Use this page to turn public listings into a traceable early-stage budget. Preserve each source price in its native currency, classify every amount as priced, estimated, excluded, or unresolved, and assign an owner to each open input. This page does not choose the cable type, approve polarity, release a bill of materials, or qualify an MTP-compatible product. Those decisions require technical evidence. When the baseline is released, attach its revision and the completed budget record to a current, configuration-specific quotation request.
BWNFiber budget sequence: Record the listing. Classify each cost. Release the technical baseline. Then request a scoped quote.

MPO cable price in 2026: what public listings show
The following prices were visible when checked on September 2, 2026. Each row is a dated observation, not a BWNFiber quotation, market average, recommended product, or prediction of what another supplier should charge.
| Public seller and market | Listing identity and visible configuration | Public price observed | Responsible budget use |
|---|---|---|---|
| FS China | 1 m, MTP-12 to MTP-12, UPC, 12-fiber OM4, Type B, OFNP | CNY 345 | Record as a China-storefront reference for this exact displayed configuration |
| FS China | 1 m, MTP-12 to MTP-12, APC, 12-fiber OS2, Type B, OFNP | CNY 618 | Keep separate from the OM4 row because fiber and polish differ |
| NADDOD | Product 34631; 1 m MPO-12 UPC female-to-female, 12-fiber OM4, Type A, LSZH/OFNR | USD 25.00 | Record the seller's stated shipping condition separately from the item price |
| Ubiquiti US | UACC-OFC-MA-MPMP-0.5M; 0.5 m, OM4, MPO-12 Type B UPC | USD 45.00 | Preserve the selected length and pack option with the price |
| Monoprice US | Product 48215; 3 m, MTP-12 Elite UPC female-to-female, 12-fiber OM4, Type A, OFNP; quantity one | USD 136.49 | Treat volume tiers as this seller's terms, not as a market discount |
Pricing notice: These dated list prices are for sourcing reference only, are subject to change, and are not a quotation or guarantee.
Why MPO cable prices vary between public listings
These listings are not peers. They differ in length, product identity, connector wording, fiber, polish, polarity, jacket, seller, market, currency, and selling terms. Even the two FS rows change both fiber and polish, so their difference cannot be assigned to either variable.
This is more than a currency problem. If a buyer carries the CNY 345 OM4/UPC row into a budget and the released requirement later becomes OS2/APC, the listing is no longer evidence for the item being budgeted. Replace the price row. Do not hide the configuration change inside a contingency percentage.
Averaging the five values, or converting the CNY rows to USD and calling the result a global benchmark, would produce a precise-looking number with no common scope. Keep each price with its own evidence record instead.
Can these public MPO prices be compared?
A comparison is useful only when it answers a controlled question. The current observations support the following decisions:
| Proposed comparison | Verdict | Why | Correct budget action |
|---|---|---|---|
| FS CNY 345 versus FS CNY 618 | Not a controlled fiber or polish premium | Fiber changes from OM4 to OS2 and polish changes from UPC to APC | Keep two evidence rows; do not assign the difference to one specification |
| NADDOD USD 25.00 versus Ubiquiti USD 45.00 | Not a controlled seller premium | Seller, length, polarity, jacket wording, listing identity, and commercial context differ | Retain both as orientation records; do not calculate a supplier ranking |
| Ubiquiti USD 45.00 versus Monoprice USD 136.49 | Not a controlled MTP, brand, or performance premium | Length, polarity, product description, seller, and commercial terms differ | Do not infer technical quality or value from the price ratio |
| The same seller, SKU, selected option, market, currency, unit basis, and commercial treatment at two dates | Possible price-change evidence | The time field can be isolated only if every other recorded field remains unchanged | Preserve both dated snapshots and describe the observed change without projecting a trend |
An uncontrolled comparison can show that the market contains different offers. It cannot explain why one number is higher, prove a performance difference, or predict a project quotation.
What every public price record must retain
An MPO public price needs enough context for another reviewer to identify the listing. Save these fields in the budget file:
| Evidence field | What to record | Hold condition |
|---|---|---|
| Seller and source | Seller name and exact page URL | Search-result text without a durable destination |
| Observation time | Date checked; time if the purchasing window is short | "Current price" with no timestamp |
| Market and currency | Storefront country or region and native currency | Currency symbol without market context |
| Listing identity | SKU, product number, or exact listing title | Generic product-family name only |
| Visible configuration | Copy the description used on the page; do not silently normalize terminology | Important fields are hidden or selected by an unrecorded page option |
| Unit basis | One assembly, pack, pair, lot, or another stated selling unit | Quantity or pack basis is unclear |
| Quantity tier | Quantity selected and any displayed tier that controls the number | A volume price is copied without its threshold |
| Availability | Visible stock or availability wording | A price is used after the listing becomes unavailable |
| Included charges | Only shipping, tax, or another charge explicitly shown as included | An inclusion is assumed from a previous order or another storefront |
| Excluded or unknown charges | Freight, tax, duty, insurance, fees, or other amounts not established | A blank is treated as zero |
| Evidence owner | Person responsible for the record and refresh decision | No owner can confirm whether the evidence is still usable |
Keep the visible price in its original currency. If finance converts it, store the converted value as a separate record with the rate source and date. Otherwise, an exchange-rate movement can look like a supplier price change.
When MPO cable price per meter is not comparable

Dividing an assembly price by length does not remove differences in endpoints, construction, pack basis, market, or seller terms. Use an MPO price per meter only when the non-length fields are the same.
Check six items before using the calculation:
- Same seller and storefront?
- Same listing family or a documented controlled variant?
- Same two endpoint interfaces and product architecture?
- Same fiber, position count, mapping, polish, construction, and jacket wording?
- Same unit or pack basis, quantity tier, tax treatment, and shipping treatment?
- Same observation date or a documented price-validity period?
Read "same fiber" at the level stated by the controlled source. IEC 60793-2-10 treats OM3, OM4, and OM5 as distinct 50/125 μm multimode subcategories. For a single-mode assembly, record OS2 and any explicitly stated ITU-T G.652.D or G.657.A1/A2 designation as separate fields; do not translate one label into another. ITU-T G.657 category A is G.652.D-compliant and has improved macrobending performance, but that does not establish which fiber is inside a particular listing.
Treat construction terms as price-record fields, not synonyms. Keep LSZH, OFNR, OFNP, minimum bend radius, tensile and crush limits, and any environmental-suitability wording exactly as stated in the listing or exact assembly datasheet. If a required field differs or is missing, do not reuse the price.
If any answer is no or unknown, retain price per assembly. A price-per-meter ranking would hide a difference that has not been controlled.
If the product category is still open, stop here and use the MPO cable types guide. An MPO cable price comparison cannot resolve product selection.
Separate list price from a working project budget
How to build a working MPO cable budget
For a data center MPO cable budget, a list price is an item-price input, not an MPO landed cost. Classify every amount as priced, estimated, excluded, or unresolved. An excluded amount is deliberately outside the current total. An unresolved amount may apply but has no approved value yet.
Build the working total in four steps:
- Freeze the price evidence. Record the seller, URL, date, original currency, listing identity, visible configuration, selling unit, quantity tier, availability, and known exclusions.
- Calculate the item subtotal from the documented unit or pack price and the matching quantity. Keep one-time charges on separate lines.
- Add freight, insurance, currency conversion, duty, tax, or local handling only when the responsible buyer records a source and date.
- List excluded and unresolved costs next to the total, then label the budget as reference, planning, or approved.
Working budget total = priced item subtotal + documented one-time charges + approved buyer estimates
Never enter zero for an open cost unless the source establishes zero. A percentage borrowed from another project is still an estimate and needs its own source and owner.
If an Incoterms® 2020 rule is part of the commercial basis, record the rule and named place. The acronym alone does not show where costs and risk transfer.
For multi-currency planning, keep the seller's amount in the original currency. Store the buyer's converted amount separately with the exchange-rate source, rate, date, and owner. The conversion is a planning figure, not a new seller price.
Localize the budget by destination, not by region label
North America, Europe, Middle East, Southeast Asia, Latin America, and Africa are planning labels, not shared prices, tax rules, delivery terms, or cable specifications. Record the destination country and project conditions before applying a regional assumption.
| Planning label | Record before using the price | Do not assume |
|---|---|---|
| North America | Exact country, state or province where relevant, seller storefront, currency, destination, importer, tax owner, and project-required cable rating | One North American price, tax treatment, fire rating, or delivery basis |
| Europe | Destination country, EU or non-EU import route, currency, customs and VAT owner, origin/classification record, and the exact declarations or technical documents named by the project | One Europe-wide landed cost or a category-page claim that proves product compliance |
| Middle East | Destination country, importer, named delivery place, currency, route, and any temperature, UV, dust, or installation condition stated in the released requirement | One regional jacket, climate, customs, or lead-time rule |
| Southeast Asia | Destination country, port or delivery place, currency, import owner, packaging requirements, and any moisture or route condition stated in the technical baseline | One ASEAN-wide duty, tax, packaging, or environmental specification |
| Latin America | Destination country, quote currency, exchange-rate source and date, importer, tax/duty owner, required document language, and delivery place | One regional currency conversion, import percentage, or delivery schedule |
| Africa or an ISP/FTTH program | Confirm first that an MPO assembly is part of the approved architecture; then record the country, route, importer, currency, installation environment, and required documents | Extending a data-center MPO listing to ADSS, drop, duct, direct-burial, or another outside-plant cable |
For an EU destination, the European Commission's importation guidance explains that release for free circulation can involve import duty, other charges, and applicable restrictions. Use the buyer's current tariff, origin, customs-value, VAT, and import evidence. Do not copy a duty percentage from another shipment or this article.
Climate, installation method, cable construction, rating, test documents, labeling, export packaging, OEM/ODM changes, sample approval, quantity, and target schedule belong in the released requirement or current supplier response. They can affect the project budget, but a region name does not establish them.
MPO cable budget worksheet

Use the worksheet as a commercial control sheet. Refer to the approved technical requirement by ID and revision rather than copying technical fields into the budget.
| Budget field | Status | Value or source | Owner / next action |
|---|---|---|---|
| Technical baseline ID and revision | Unresolved until supplied | Link to the released BOM or channel record; do not restate it here | |
| Price evidence ID | Priced / unresolved | Link to seller page, screenshot, or formal quotation | |
| Observation or quotation date | Priced / unresolved | Recheck before approval | |
| Native currency | Priced / unresolved | Preserve original currency | |
| Selling unit or pack basis | Priced / unresolved | Confirm one assembly, pack, pair, or lot | |
| Quantity used in budget | Estimated / approved | Tie to project quantity owner | |
| Item subtotal | Priced / calculated | Show formula and source rows | |
| One-time charges | Priced / estimated / excluded / unresolved | Name the charge; do not hide it in unit price | |
| Separately priced documents or inspections | Priced / excluded / unresolved | Include only when a source states the commercial treatment | |
| Labels and packaging | Priced / estimated / excluded / unresolved | Record included scope or owner | |
| Freight and insurance | Priced / estimated / excluded / unresolved | Record route, source, date, and owner | |
| Duty and tax | Estimated / excluded / unresolved | Import or finance owner confirms applicability | |
| Exchange-rate source, rate, and date | Estimated / not applicable | Preserve native-currency total alongside conversion | |
| Other disclosed amount | Priced / estimated / excluded / unresolved | State why it applies | |
| Working budget total | Calculated | Sum only priced amounts and approved estimates | |
| Open-cost note | Unresolved | List every amount excluded from the total | |
| Budget state and review date | Reference / planning / approved | Name reviewer and next refresh trigger |
Label the result: reference, planning, or approved
A wide range does not solve the comparability problem. Label the maturity of the number instead:
| Budget state | Permitted inputs | Appropriate use | Must not be called |
|---|---|---|---|
| Reference total | Dated public item prices and clearly identified exclusions | Initial orientation and data collection | Project quotation, landed cost, or market average |
| Planning total | Reference evidence plus buyer-approved estimates and a visible unresolved-cost list | Internal option planning or preliminary approval | Supplier commitment or final purchase cost |
| Approved project total | Current formal quotation plus approved logistics, import, tax, and currency inputs | Purchase decision under the organization's approval process | A universal benchmark for another configuration or project |
A planning total may contain estimates, but each estimate needs a source and owner. Show exclusions next to the total so an approver can see what remains outside it.
When public prices stop being useful

Refresh or retire a price record when any of these changes:
- the visible price or currency;
- the seller, storefront, SKU, or selected option;
- the selling unit, pack quantity, or volume tier;
- stock or availability wording;
- tax, shipping, or promotional treatment;
- the project's technical baseline, including fiber designation, connector interface, pinning, polish, mapping, fiber count, assembly construction, jacket or rating, and required test scope;
- the required quantity;
- the destination or buyer-side import assumptions; or
- the page is removed, redirected, or no longer exposes the recorded configuration.
There is no universal number of days for which an online price remains valid. The page itself or a formal quotation must establish validity. Recheck volatile evidence immediately before budget approval and replace public references with current supplier quotations when available.
Handoff from budget evidence to technical review
This page covers problem recognition, public-price evidence, and early commercial budgeting. Product selection, application fit, technical release, supplier qualification, sample or document approval, and final acceptance remain separate purchasing gates. Budget work stops when the cable specification is unresolved. Choose the next resource based on what is missing:
- If the cable category is unknown, use the MPO cable types guide.
- If endpoint evidence, lane mapping, polarity, component route, or BOM release is unresolved, use the MPO polarity and channel-planning checklist.
- If a proposal relies on MTP-compatible wording, use the MTP-compatible cable verification guide.
- If you are comparing suppliers or defining required drawings, samples, test records, labels, packaging, or change control, use the fiber cable assembly RFQ and approval guide. Ask what can be supplied for the exact configuration; a category-page statement is not model approval.
- If the technical baseline is released and the budget record is complete, move to the BWNFiber MPO cabling inquiry page.
If a supplier prices test documents separately, name the exact deliverable and its budget status. Do not compress fiber attenuation, assembly or channel attenuation, return loss, polarity, endface inspection, and OTDR work into one "tested" line. The MPO polarity and channel-planning checklist owns the test-method and pass-limit decision; this page records only whether the approved evidence is priced, excluded, or unresolved.
Send the budget evidence ID, technical baseline ID and revision, quantity, destination, original currency, requested commercial basis, and open cost items with the handoff. The technical checklist controls whether the assembly is ready for supplier review. A quotation supports the commercial decision; an order should proceed only after the responsible buyer and technical owner approve the exact response and any required sample or documents.
Frequently asked budgeting questions

How much does an MPO cable cost?
The five public observations in this guide include USD 25.00, USD 45.00, USD 136.49, CNY 345, and CNY 618. They are not one market range because the configurations and seller terms differ. Use the exact project requirement to obtain a current quotation.
Why do MPO cable prices vary between public listings?
Configuration is only part of the difference. Length, selling unit, quantity, market, currency, shipping, tax, and availability can also change the number. Compare prices after both the product and commercial basis match.
When can I use an MPO cable price per meter?
Use it only when the assemblies share the same non-length scope, seller context, selling unit, quantity condition, currency, and observation date. Otherwise, keep price per assembly.
What is the difference between a public list price and a budgetary quote?
A public list price records what a storefront displayed on a given date. A budgetary quote responds to a defined requirement and may include validity, quantity, exclusions, and delivery basis. Neither is a final purchase cost until the required inputs are approved.
Can I compare CNY and USD list prices?
Yes, but keep both original prices. Record the exchange-rate source, rate, date, and owner for any conversion. The converted value is a buyer calculation, not a seller quotation.
Should freight, duty, and tax be inside the working budget?
Include a charge when its applicability and source are documented. If freight, insurance, duty, tax, or local handling is unknown, mark it unresolved or excluded. A blank field is not zero.
How should one-time charges be recorded?
Keep each charge on its own line and assign a status. If a quote lists setup, documentation, inspection, packaging, or handling separately, do not spread it across the unit price without showing the calculation.
How often should a 2026 public price be rechecked?
Recheck when the selected option, quantity, market, stock status, or seller terms change, and again before budget approval. The date on this guide does not extend the validity of a seller's listing.
Can a seller's volume tier be treated as a market discount?
No. It shows one seller's terms for one product, quantity, market, and date. Another supplier or a custom configuration may use a different price structure.
Does a higher MPO cable price prove better technical performance?
No. A higher price does not prove the fiber designation, interface fit, mapping, insertion loss, return loss, endface condition, test coverage, or standards conformity. A fiber attenuation value in dB/km also does not establish the insertion loss of a completed assembly. Check the released technical baseline, exact model evidence, and approved test plan before accepting a technical comparison.
What price evidence should be retained for budget approval?
Keep the URL, seller, market, original currency, observation date, listing identity, visible configuration, selling unit, quantity tier, availability, known inclusions and exclusions, evidence copy where policy permits, and record owner.
When is the budget ready to hand off for a formal quotation?
The budget record is ready when every amount has a status and owner. The quote request is ready when the technical baseline is also released. If it is not, finish the polarity and channel-planning review first.
Prepare a scoped MPO cable quote request
Before sending the request, assemble the minimum handoff package:
- released BOM, channel record, or approved reference part, including its revision;
- completed budget worksheet and price evidence ID;
- required quantity and destination market;
- native currency and requested commercial basis, including a named place when an Incoterms rule applies;
- open freight, insurance, duty, tax, packaging, or one-time cost questions;
- target delivery window for confirmation, not an assumed lead time; and
- each model-specific datasheet, drawing, sample, test record, label, packaging, or other approval item that the project requires.
BWNFiber's current fiber cable assembly page invites buyers to submit available project documents and identify unresolved items for configuration review before quotation. Use that review to close missing decisions. Do not treat a general website statement as confirmation of model availability, customization, MOQ, document or test scope, sample terms, price, or schedule.
A formal BWNFiber response can confirm the configuration and current commercial scope. Until that response exists, do not assume availability, price, MOQ, document or test scope, or delivery schedule.
