This LC SC patch cord connects an SC/UPC duplex interface to an LC/UPC duplex interface in a documented multimode link. The BWNFiber product record lists OM1, OM3 and OM4, 2.0 mm or 3.0 mm LSZH cable, and 3, 5, 10, 20, 50 and 100 m lengths plus customized lengths.
Release a configuration only after the two mating interfaces, one OM grade, finished length and duplex orientation are recorded. Connector names, jacket color or a previous email description are not enough to approve a repeat order.
Send the two port references, OM grade, length and quantity for a fit check
The first response should confirm whether this product family fits the stated link and identify any open fields. It is not a final engineering approval, quotation or promise of availability.
For other connector, fiber or cable constructions, start with the fiber patch cord range.
Quick procurement summary
Definition
An LC SC patch cord is a terminated fiber assembly with an LC connector on one end and an SC connector on the other. This product record covers duplex multimode SC/UPC to LC/UPC builds in OM1, OM3 or OM4, with 2.0 mm or 3.0 mm LSZH cable and listed or customized lengths.
Procurement decision
For procurement, do not release the order from connector names alone. Confirm the SC-side and LC-side port polish, installed OM grade, two-fiber orientation, selected cable diameter, LSZH requirement, finished-length reference points, tolerance and quantity. Then require one proposed SKU and revision to match the quotation, datasheet, drawing, labels and requested test records. If a value is absent from the controlled model package, keep it open instead of copying a generic family specification. Use a sample or first article when the configuration or evidence package has not been approved before.
Key conclusions
- This record is for SC/UPC to LC/UPC duplex multimode connections, not single-mode or APC links.
- OM1, OM3 and OM4 are separate order choices and are not interchangeable by jacket color alone.
- A finished length needs reference points and tolerance before it becomes a controlled requirement.
- The quotation, drawing, datasheet, labels and test records should identify the same SKU and revision.
- Unverified performance, compliance, schedule and commercial values must remain open until approved evidence is supplied.
Risk warning and project recommendation
The most expensive mismatch is often discovered after cables reach the site: wrong polish, wrong OM grade, reversed duplex orientation, unclear length or evidence tied to another SKU. For a new configuration, changed interface or repeat order without a frozen revision, request a documented fit review and approve a sample or first article before bulk release.

Quick answer: 30-second fit check

Use this product for an SC/UPC to LC/UPC, two-fiber multimode connection using one of the three published grades: OM1, OM3 or OM4. Choose another record for single-mode fiber, APC polish, simplex cords, armored or outdoor cable, mode-conditioning cords, or MPO assemblies.
| Check | Use this product when | Stop or choose another product when |
|---|---|---|
| SC end | The mating interface is documented as SC/UPC | It is SC/APC, another connector, or unverified |
| LC end | The mating interface is documented as LC/UPC | It is LC/APC, another connector, or unverified |
| Fiber plant | The installed link is OM1, OM3 or OM4 | It is OS1/OS2, OM2, OM5, mode-conditioning, or unknown |
| Fiber path | The link uses two fibers | The design calls for simplex, MPO, or another multi-fiber structure |
| Cable build | The order calls for 2.0 mm or 3.0 mm LSZH | It requires armored, outdoor, plenum, riser, or another construction |
| Length | Finished length and its reference points are defined | Route length, finished length or tolerance is unresolved |
Passing this screen identifies the product family. It does not approve a SKU or its performance limits.
What the product record confirms

| Order field | Published option | What the order must state |
|---|---|---|
| Product type | Duplex multimode LC SC patch cord | Product name plus assigned SKU and revision |
| End A | SC/UPC duplex | Identify end A on the drawing and label file |
| End B | LC/UPC duplex | Identify end B on the drawing and label file |
| Fiber grade | OM1, OM3 or OM4 | Select one grade; jacket color is not substitution evidence |
| Cable diameter | 2.0 mm or 3.0 mm | Select one diameter |
| Jacket | LSZH | Confirm any project-specific fire or installation rating separately |
| Published lengths | 3, 5, 10, 20, 50 or 100 m | Select one and define measurement points and tolerance |
| Customized length | Listed as available | State finished length, reference points and tolerance |
| Model/SKU | Not present in the supplied evidence | Assign before publication or repeat ordering |
LSZH describes a jacket characteristic. LSZH alone does not prove a particular flame rating, plenum or riser classification, outdoor suitability, UV resistance, water blocking or rodent protection.
Technical specification status
The live source combines generic values across several connectors, fiber types, jackets and core counts. The table below therefore separates published configuration facts from fields that still need evidence for this exact assembly.
Specification notice: A field marked "To be confirmed" is not a guarantee, default value or acceptance limit.
| Parameter | Current status | Evidence needed before use |
|---|---|---|
| Connector pair | SC/UPC duplex to LC/UPC duplex | Confirmed on the exact product record |
| Fiber options | OM1, OM3 or OM4 multimode | Confirmed on the exact product record |
| Cable diameter | 2.0 mm or 3.0 mm | Confirmed on the exact product record |
| Jacket | LSZH | Confirmed on the exact product record; specific rating remains unverified |
| Lengths | 3/5/10/20/50/100 m; customized length listed | Confirm availability, reference points and tolerance |
| Core/cladding geometry | To be confirmed | Controlled datasheet for the selected OM grade |
| Duplex orientation | To be confirmed | Approved end A/end B drawing |
| Insertion loss | To be confirmed | SKU limit, wavelength, launch/reference method and acceptance rule |
| Return loss | To be confirmed | SKU limit, wavelength, method and acceptance rule |
| End-face inspection | To be confirmed | Inspection method and acceptance criteria |
| Mating durability | To be confirmed | Model-specific value and test method |
| Tensile and crush performance | To be confirmed | Construction-specific limits and test methods |
| Minimum bend radius | To be confirmed | Static and installation values from the exact cable datasheet, if applicable |
| Operating and storage temperature | To be confirmed | Assembly datasheet for the ordered build |
| Bend-insensitive fiber | Not approved for this draft | Publish only when the selected model identifies the fiber |
| Ferrule and component materials | To be confirmed | Controlled bill of materials or datasheet |
| Standards and certifications | To be confirmed | Model-linked declaration and supporting evidence |
| MOQ | To be quoted | Sales confirmation |
| Production and delivery schedule | To be quoted | Configuration, quantity and destination review |
| Warranty | To be confirmed | Approved product or sales terms |
Insertion loss, return loss and end-face condition describe different acceptance dimensions. A visual end-face check does not replace optical measurements when the purchase specification requires them. Raw fiber attenuation also does not substitute for an assembly-level insertion-loss requirement.
Match every claim to the right evidence
Use the narrowest document that actually controls the statement. A quotation can confirm commercial terms, but it cannot replace an approved assembly datasheet. A generic family page can show available constructions, but it cannot set the acceptance limit for an unnamed SKU.
| Evidence source | What it can confirm | What it cannot confirm by itself |
|---|---|---|
| Published exact product record | Connector pair, multimode options, cable diameter, LSZH and listed lengths | Unpublished limits, ratings, materials, SKU or revision |
| Approved SKU datasheet | Model-linked construction and declared performance fields | Duplex mapping, project labels or an unlisted customized length |
| Approved assembly drawing | End A/end B, orientation, clip layout and length reference points | Lot-specific results or current commercial terms |
| Supplier quotation | Proposed configuration, quantity, commercial terms and schedule | Engineering compliance that is absent from the controlled technical package |
| Sample or first-article record | The approved physical and documentary baseline | Automatic approval of later changes or unlinked production lots |
| Lot or serial scoped test record | Results for the identified delivered scope under the stated method | Results for another SKU, revision, lot or test method |
| No controlled source | Nothing publishable | Any numeric, compliance, material or compatibility claim |
Check the interface, fiber grade and duplex path

- Match the SC-side port to an equipment record, panel schedule or adapter record that says SC/UPC.
- Match the LC-side port to a record that says LC/UPC.
- Check the cable legend, as-built drawing or controlled test file for OM1, OM3 or OM4.
- Mark transmit and receive fibers, end A/end B and the connector-clip arrangement on the drawing.
- Define the finished-length reference points and tolerance.
If any of the first three records are missing, send the known port references, cable legend or as-built extract and intended finished length before requesting price. The technical question should be resolved before a commercial comparison is treated as valid.
Ask a technical fit question before requesting a quotation
Common ordering mistakes and stop conditions

| Ordering shortcut | Why it fails | Release action |
|---|---|---|
| Approving from connector names only | SC and LC do not identify polish, fiber grade or duplex mapping | Match both port records and write SC/UPC and LC/UPC explicitly |
| Treating jacket color as the OM grade | Color is an identification aid, not controlled evidence of the installed fiber | Use the cable legend, as-built file or approved test record |
| Treating route length as finished assembly length | Routing allowance and connector reference points can change the ordered length | Define measurement points and tolerance before release |
| Reusing a previous duplex clip layout | Transmit and receive mapping belongs to the documented link, not the connector family | Approve end A/end B and the orientation drawing for this link |
| Copying a generic loss value into the PO | A value without SKU, wavelength, method and acceptance rule is not auditable | Use an approved model source or keep the field open |
| Assuming LSZH also means plenum, riser or outdoor | Those are separate construction or rating decisions | Request model-specific evidence for every required rating |
LC and SC identify connector families. This cord does not convert fiber mode, connector polish, wavelength or protocol. G.652.D and G.657.A1/A2 are single-mode categories and are outside this product record. OM2 and OM5 are multimode categories but are not published options for this exact page.
Resolve common procurement objections
| Purchasing concern | Procurement answer | Evidence or next action |
|---|---|---|
| A generic LC-SC cord is cheaper | Connector names do not prove polish, OM grade, orientation, diameter, length basis or evidence scope | Compare quotations against the same controlled order line |
| The jacket color looks correct | Color is an identification aid, not proof of fiber grade or accepted substitution | Verify the proposed SKU, datasheet and installed link record |
| LSZH is already specified | LSZH alone does not prove a named flame rating, outdoor suitability or local approval | State the required rating and request model-linked evidence |
| Either 2.0 mm or 3.0 mm should work | Diameter affects routing, handling and ordered construction | Select one diameter from the product record and place it on the PO |
| Duplex orientation can be fixed on site | Site correction can add delay and may not resolve keyed-interface constraints | Approve an end-to-end orientation drawing before production |
| The route length is known | Route length is not a controlled finished-cord length until reference points and tolerance are defined | Record the measurement method and finished-length tolerance |
| A generic test report is enough | A report for another family or revision does not approve the ordered SKU | Request the proposed record type and its SKU or lot link before release |
| A sample will delay the project | A first article can expose interface, label, length and evidence mismatches before bulk material is shipped | Use a sample when the build or revision has not been approved before |
| MOQ and lead time can be assumed | Quantity, schedule, packaging and customization can change the commercial offer | Request current written confirmation for the exact configuration |
| A repeat order needs no new review | Uncontrolled substitutions or revision drift can create a different delivered assembly | Freeze the SKU, revision, approved exceptions and label format |
Representative engineering review scenario
The following is a review example, not a customer case or a performance claim.
A project record identifies an SC/UPC duplex panel interface, an LC/UPC duplex equipment interface and an existing OM3 plant. The buyer sends both port references, required finished length, quantity and a duplex-orientation drawing. Before release, procurement and engineering assign one SKU and revision to the OM3, 2.0 mm or 3.0 mm LSZH build and define the required records. Receiving then checks the delivered identifier, connector ends, cable legend, length, orientation, labels and agreed records against the same purchase package.
If the port polish, installed fiber grade or duplex mapping cannot be proven, the configuration stays open. A representative scenario cannot replace a controlled datasheet, sample approval or lot-specific acceptance record.
Where this product fits

Documented SC/UPC panel to LC/UPC equipment
Use it when a confirmed multimode link ends at an SC/UPC panel or adapter on one side and an LC/UPC equipment or adapter interface on the other.
Equipment refresh with the SC interface retained
The cord can connect a retained SC/UPC distribution interface to a confirmed LC/UPC equipment interface. Keep the selected OM grade consistent with the installed channel.
Distributor or project BOM
Assign one SKU and revision to hold the connector pair, OM grade, diameter, jacket, length, orientation, labels and required documents constant across repeat orders.
This page does not approve CATV, PON, FTTH, FTTA, outdoor, armored, direct-burial, duct, aerial, single-mode or brand-specific applications. Those requirements need a separate product or solution record and evidence review.
When to request a project-specific configuration review
Request a separate review when the project needs a customized finished length, project labels, a defined duplex orientation, a customer part number, special pack-out or documents beyond the published product record. Customized length is the only customization explicitly listed in the current source. Other requested changes remain proposals until the resulting SKU, drawing, evidence and quotation are approved.
The BWNFiber review rule for this page is: one link, one controlled order line and one evidence trail. Send the same port, fiber, construction and document requirements that procurement will place on the purchase order. This keeps the configuration discussion tied to the exact product instead of a generic patch-cord description.
Ask BWNFiber to review the port pair and configuration inputs
Build an unambiguous order line

- Attach the source document and port identifier for the SC/UPC and LC/UPC ends.
- Select OM1, OM3 or OM4.
- Select duplex 2.0 mm or 3.0 mm LSZH cable.
- State the finished length, measurement reference and tolerance.
- Put end A, end B, connector-clip layout and transmit/receive mapping on the drawing.
- Add the supplier SKU, customer part number, revision and label content.
- List the datasheet, drawing, sample, test, compliance and packaging records required with the order.
Order-line template:
[SKU/REV] | End A: SC/UPC duplex | End B: LC/UPC duplex | [OM1/OM3/OM4] | [2.0/3.0 mm] LSZH | [finished length and tolerance] | [orientation drawing] | [labels] | [quantity] | [required records]
Formatting example only. This is not a confirmed SKU:
[SKU REQUIRED] | SC/UPC duplex | LC/UPC duplex | OM4 | 2.0 mm LSZH | 5 m [tolerance required] | orientation per drawing | labels both ends | 200 pcs | datasheet and agreed test record
Control substitutions and exceptions
Do not accept a proposed change because the cable still looks like an LC SC patch cord. Record each deviation against the approved order line.
| Proposed change | Default decision | Evidence required for review |
|---|---|---|
| OM1, OM3 or OM4 changed to another grade | Hold | Link design, port records and engineering approval |
| 2.0 mm changed to 3.0 mm, or 3.0 mm changed to 2.0 mm | Hold | Updated SKU, drawing, routing review and approved datasheet |
| LSZH changed to PVC, OFNR, OFNP or another jacket description | Reject unless separately specified and approved | Model-linked construction and project rating requirement |
| Published length changed or a customized length proposed | Hold | Finished length, reference points, tolerance and revised quotation |
| Duplex orientation or clip arrangement changed | Hold | Revised end A/end B drawing and transmit/receive mapping |
| SKU, revision or label identifier changed | Hold | Change notice and full document cross-check |
| Numeric test limit proposed from another family page | Reject | Exact-SKU source with wavelength, method and acceptance rule |
Do not substitute these products
| Requirement | Correct destination | Reason |
|---|---|---|
| Broad connector, fiber or jacket selection | Fiber patch cord range | It is a category decision, not this model family |
| General selection education | Fiber patch cord selection guide after its uniqueness review | It answers informational questions rather than defining an orderable model |
| Single-mode SC to LC | Separate OS1/OS2 model | The fiber category and acceptance record differ |
| Any APC end | Separate APC model | The polish and product identity differ |
| Armored SC/LC cable | Armored SC/LC patch cable | The cable construction and application differ |
| Mode-conditioning cord | Dedicated mode-conditioning product | It uses a special launch construction |
| MPO to LC breakout | MPO cabling | It is a multi-fiber architecture |
| Separate mating component | Fiber optic adapters | An adapter is not a cable assembly |
Release and incoming inspection

Before production
- Match the SKU and revision across the quotation, datasheet, drawing and label file.
- Mark SC/UPC and LC/UPC as separate ends on the drawing.
- Fix one OM grade, one cable diameter, LSZH jacket, finished length and tolerance.
- Show the duplex orientation and connector-clip layout.
- Name every required test, wavelength, method, limit and supplied record.
- Reject numerical limits that do not cite the ordered model and test method.
Test and inspection planning
- Define assembly-level insertion-loss and return-loss requirements only from an approved SKU source or purchase specification.
- If end-face inspection is required, state the inspection and acceptance criteria separately from optical limits.
- Use OTDR records for the installed link, event or fault context when the project calls for them. Do not treat an installed-link OTDR trace as the sole acceptance record for a short patch cord assembly.
- Keep the launch condition, reference method, test wavelength, instruments and acceptance rule aligned with the approved purchase specification.
Standards and test-method context
IEC publishes interface-family references for SC connectors and LC connectors. Separate IEC procedures cover attenuation measurement, return-loss measurement and connector end-face inspection.
Use the applicable standard and method to define the purchase specification and acceptance plan. A standards link on this page does not prove that an unnamed BWNFiber SKU complies with that standard.
First-article and repeat-order control
- Require the proposed SKU, revision, datasheet, drawing, label file and exception list before the first article is released.
- Compare the sample with the approved connector ends, OM grade marking, diameter, length definition, orientation and pack-out requirement.
- Record accepted deviations instead of resolving them only by email.
- Link the approval record to the SKU and revision used on the purchase order.
- For repeat orders, require notification before construction, document, label or test-method changes are introduced.
When a project requires a sample or first article, state the proposed configuration, sample quantity, drawing, inspection points, required records and approval owner. Sample availability, cost and schedule remain subject to the reviewed quotation.
Request a sample or first-article quotation
When the shipment arrives
- Compare package and product labels with the purchase-order SKU and revision.
- Compare the connectors and duplex orientation with the drawing.
- Check the cable legend against the selected OM grade, diameter and jacket record.
- Measure length using the agreed reference points.
- Confirm that supplied records identify the delivered model, revision and lot or serial scope as required.
- Quarantine a shipment when the identifier, construction, drawing, label or required acceptance record does not match.
| Receiving condition | Disposition | Record needed to release |
|---|---|---|
| SKU or revision differs from the purchase package | Quarantine | Approved change notice and aligned technical package |
| Connector polish, fiber grade, diameter, jacket or length does not match | Quarantine | Corrective action or documented engineering concession |
| Duplex orientation or end labels differ from the drawing | Quarantine | Corrected assembly or approved deviation |
| Required test, inspection or compliance record is missing or names another model | Quarantine | Correct record tied to the delivered scope |
| Product and records match every agreed field | Release under the buyer's receiving procedure | Completed receiving record |
Packaging and quotation inputs

The supplied sources do not state a default MOQ, pack quantity, carton size, lead time, Incoterm or warranty. Obtain each applicable term in the quotation and carry it into the purchase record.
| Topic | Information to agree |
|---|---|
| Product identity | Supplier SKU/revision and customer part number |
| Protection | Individual or bulk packing and dust caps |
| Labels | End A/end B labels, link ID and barcode if required |
| Carton record | Quantity per bag/carton and carton mark |
| Length | Measurement reference and tolerance |
| Documents | Datasheet, drawing, test and compliance records |
| Commercial inputs | Quantity, destination, Incoterm and requested schedule |
| Repeat supply | Sample or first-article approval and change-notification requirement |
Compare price and schedule on the same scope
Two quotations are comparable only when they use the same controlled requirement. A lower unit price is not a like-for-like result if the cable build, evidence package, packing basis or delivery basis differs.
| Comparison field | Keep constant or make visible | Do not assume |
|---|---|---|
| Configuration | Connector polish, OM grade, diameter, LSZH, finished length and orientation | The product title controls every build detail |
| Quantity | Quoted quantity and sample or production basis | A sample price scales to a production order |
| Evidence | Datasheet, drawing, inspection, test and compliance records requested | Every supplier includes the same records |
| Packing | Individual or bulk packing, labels and carton marks | Packing is included in the same way |
| Commercial basis | Currency, Incoterm, destination and applicable MOQ | Unit price alone represents landed cost |
| Schedule | Configuration approval point, production basis and delivery basis | An unqualified number is a guaranteed lead time |
| Exceptions | Every deviation and unresolved field | Silence means full technical compliance |
Return a quotation for clarification if the proposed SKU, exceptions, included records, commercial basis or schedule basis is missing.

International RFQ and destination review

A country or region does not approve the product configuration. State the installation environment, project-required rating or declaration, document language, units, labeling, packing, destination and Incoterm in the RFQ. Keep every unsupported rating or commercial condition open until it is tied to the proposed SKU and quotation.
| Destination context | Confirm before quotation | Do not infer from this page |
|---|---|---|
| North America | Project-required premises-cable or fire-safety classification, units, label format and ship-to basis | LSZH does not automatically mean OFNR, OFNP or another listed rating |
| Europe | Any project-required CPR classification, CE, RoHS, REACH or declaration, plus document language and metric labeling | The current product record does not prove any named regulatory status |
| Middle East | Indoor operating and storage environment, project fire-safety documents, label language, destination and delivery basis | A regional climate label does not establish the assembly temperature range |
| Southeast Asia | Site environment, storage and transport conditions, building requirement, importer documents and packing | An indoor application does not approve uncontrolled heat or humidity exposure |
| Latin America | Document language, units, local project requirements, importer documents, destination and commercial basis | One requirement cannot be assumed for every country or customer |
| Africa | Site environment, indoor or outdoor boundary, import documents, delivery location, labels and pack-out | One requirement cannot be assumed for every market, route or installation |
The published product record lists customized length. OEM/ODM, private label, barcode, bulk pack, production capacity, special testing and other construction changes are not confirmed capabilities in the supplied evidence. Treat each as an RFQ request that requires an explicit supplier response, controlled documents and commercial approval.
For an international quotation, add the destination country, Incoterm request, delivery location, document language, labeling, packing and required declarations to the exact product configuration. Do not use region alone as a technical specification.
Questions buyers ask
Is this LC SC patch cord multimode or single-mode?
It is a multimode product record with OM1, OM3 and OM4 options. Use a separate approved model for single-mode fiber.
Does this page include G.652.D or G.657.A1/A2 fiber?
No. Those are single-mode fiber categories and do not belong in this multimode product specification.
Does this page include OM2 or OM5?
No. Request a separate configuration if the installed link is OM2 or OM5.
Can the UPC ends mate with APC ports?
Do not approve that combination. Verify that the SC side is SC/UPC and the LC side is LC/UPC; use a separate APC product record when an APC interface is required.
Does LSZH prove a specific flame rating or outdoor suitability?
No. Confirm any required flame, plenum, riser, UV, water-blocking or outdoor rating from model-specific evidence.
Are 2.0 mm and 3.0 mm the same SKU?
No public SKU structure was supplied. Put the selected diameter in the assigned SKU or controlled order description.
Does one duplex orientation fit every link?
No. Match transmit and receive fibers to the link design and approve the connector-clip layout on the drawing.
How is finished length measured?
The current product evidence does not define the reference points or tolerance. Add both to the drawing or purchase specification.
Can a generic family test table approve this product?
No. An acceptance record should identify the exact SKU, revision, applicable lot or serial scope, method and agreed limits.
Does end-face inspection replace insertion-loss testing?
No. They evaluate different conditions. Use each method only as defined in the approved acceptance plan.
Is an OTDR trace enough to accept the patch cord?
No. An OTDR trace can support installed-link or fault analysis, but the assembly acceptance plan should define the required product identity, inspection and optical measurements.
Which published lengths are listed?
The product record lists 3, 5, 10, 20, 50 and 100 m plus customized lengths. Confirm availability, measurement points and tolerance in the order.
